Miguel Rocha de Sousa has a Ph.D. in Economics from University of Évora,
Portugal and a BSc and MSc in Economics from Nova School of Business and
Economics, Lisbon, Portugal. Presently he is an assistant professor and department
head of Economics at Évora (tenured), after having also taught at Nova
University of Lisbon, and having been visiting professor at University of Dili,
East Timor, and Methodist University, Luanda, Angola. He is an integrated
researcher ofthe Research Center in Political Science (CICP), a collaborative
interdisciplinary center between Universities of Minho, Évora, Coimbra and
Azores, Portugal, whose last assessment by FCT was Excellent. Besides he is a
collaborative member of the Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics
of University of Évora. Currently, Professor Miguel Rocha de Sousa is an Editor of Perspectivas - Journal of Political Science.
He is a voracious reader and plays paddle-tennis.
His areas of specialization are political economy, economic growth and development, land reform, international organizations, with both a theoretical and applied focus on Europe and Latin America, and has also done some work on econophysics and mathematical methods in economics. He is an associate of SEDES, AEA-American Economic Association, IPSA-International Political Science Association and its RC35 of Tech and Development, and also of SASE, Society for Advancement of Socio-Economics.
He has been a speaker in the last few years at least in 41 conferences, namely at at MIT (2012), OECD and Milan (2013), Chicago and Northwestern (2014), he his referee of 12 journals in his areas of expertise and published widely articles that amount to 24 scientific publications and proceedings, 7 book chapters, 5 of which of renown international scholarly editors.
